CCP OPENS FLORIDA LOCATION

To better serve our customers with one day shipping and freight savings in Florida, Georgia and surrounding states, Calbrite® has recently opened a location in Odessa, Florida, just outside of Tampa. While the main focus of the Florida location will be Calbrite® Stainless Conduit products, the location will be manufacturing specialty galvanized rigid and pvc-coated nipples & fittings. Stainless steel instrumentation valves & fittings are currently stocked at the Odessa facility for distribution to resellers in the piping products market.

CALBRITE® TO ANNOUNCE NEW SALES REPS

With a new push to offer Calbrite® Stainless Conduit products throughout all 50 states, Dan Markus, company president will soon be announcing the addition of several new electrical representative agencies in the U.S. and, with the approved Canadian UL certification in place, Canadian NEMRA territories. Dan Markus and Matt Westerfield will be attending the NEMRA conference in March 2009 to finalize agreements. Calbrite® has added a Marketing Representative Map to its CALBRITE.COM web site for web inquiries about its products.

CASTLE ROCK, CO CLOSES STREETS TO INSTALL CPSB RETRACTABLE BOLLARDS FOR OPEN-AIR STREET EVENTS

Beginning Aug. 25, Second Street will be closed between Wilcox and Perry streets for two days while 21 (CPSB retractable) bollards are installed at four locations. ... The bollards improve the safety of those attending the event, but can be retracted quickly in case of emergency. ... The Federal Highway Administration recommends the installation of a barrier system such as bollards for road closures other than construction or maintenance. Bollard design, expertise, and manufacturing are combining in the U.S. and U.K. to make American business and government sites safer. UK company ATG - “the bollard people” - are joining forces with the US company Cal Pipe - “the bollard guys”. Cal Pipe Security Bollards of the United States, based in California and ATG Access of the UK have announced the signing of an exclusive manufacturing license agreement to produce ATG security bollards. CPSB WELCOMES RAY MILLER OF OZTIME TECH-
NOLOGIES TO U.S. BOLLARD MANUFACTURING FACILITY

Ray Miller of Oztime Technologies in Australia recently visited CPSB in SoCal. Oztime is a primary distributor and supplier of Cal Pipe's Perimeter Defense Technologies (PDT) high-security bollards in Australia and has supplied security bollards for the Australian government in such installations as The Department of Defence, the Governor Generals' Residence and Parliament House. The PDT K12 bollards are certified by the U.S. Department of Defense and are being considered for government security systems across the United States. CURBING THE MALL DRIVE-THRU - RETAIL TRAFFFIC MAGAZINE

In June, a terrorist attempted to drive an SUV full of explosives into the Glasgow Airport terminal in Scotland. Protective barriers, or bollards, stopped the car and prevented the terrorist from detonating the explosives inside where the terminal was jam-packed with travelers. Security experts say that incident should be a wake-up call for owners of properties chock full of soft targets. It also underscores how effective bollards can be. Mall operators and security consultants point specifically to fixed-steel barriers, known as bollards, as the most effective tool in an arsenal of defensive measures. Such bollards penetrate deep into the ground, secured by concrete. ... Rob Reiter, national sales manager for Cal Pipe Security Bollards, which sells fixed-steel barriers, is even more blunt, saying that some mall owners are playing a dangerous game. “They are waiting for the next [mall-related] incident,” he says, "in which someone is severely injured or worse … killed and they are forced to take preventative action." Cal Pipe Security Bollards has acquired Perimeter Defense Technologies of Arlington, Texas, makers of retractable and fixed security bollards. ASTM INTERNATIONAL PROPOSES NEW PEDESTRIAN SAFETY STANDARD

Joining Cal Pipe Security Bollard's call for a new safety standard for protecting pedestrians from vehicles, the ASTM International Committee F12 on Security Systems and Equipment is developing a proposed new standard, WK13074, Test Method for Crash Testing of Low Speed Pedestrian Barriers.
